The Black Trans Am is actually the one from Smokey And The Bandit II. Because the driver of the car was wearing the jacket says Bandit Trans Am.

In those days you could by that type of jacket Burt Reynolds was wearing in Smokey and the bandit part 2. (Doesn`t look way too cool in the 21th century, though). If you look closely at the end of the film, you can see the co-driver is wearing the same type of jacket.

Maybe I'm mistaken- but that car looks like an '81 Trans Am with the turbo hood. Note the bulge is on the driver side. It's not in the center. I think this was done in '81 on the Turbo 301 models.

its not the same one as in S&B 2... go look at the pic for S&B 2 and you'll see the Bandit lettering at the top of the drivers side door.. its not on this car

when i was young i saw a movie about a black Pontiac Firebird with a blue bird on the bonnet. i don't know the name of this movie but if i remember quite well this movie was about some races between some other cars, there was also a VW beach buggy in this movie too. does someone knows this movie is?!

The car could be a 1980 or 1981 model. The movie was released in the summer of '81 so the car could very well be an '81. The only noticeable external difference between the two model years is the small bird in the middle of the tail light section (where the fuell filler resides): 1980 did not have the bird. The turbo 4.9 was built (with the offset hood scoop with "turbo charge" lights facing the driver) both years.

this is a 80 turbo trans am notice the 5 color hood bird 80 was the last year of that,81 featured a 1 color hood bird which made the decals look like a stencil.this was not used in smokey and the bandit 2 as youll notice it doesnt have bandit on the drivers door and they had to give back the 4 80 turbo t/as back to pontiac but was given another after filming to be in this film,the jacket was a extra left over from filming from smokey and the bandit2.the movie was filmed in 1980 and released in 1981.

The car in the pic looks like it has a gold stripe down the side or is that just the reflection of the road stripe? Burt's didn't have a stripe in SATB II.

Turbocharger was introduced for the 1980 model year and the same car was used in Smokey and the Bandit 2 which was recorded in 1980.
This is probably a 1980 model.
